This province is located at east of Mazandaran. It meets Khazar Sea at north, Alborz Mountain Chains and Semnan at south, Golestan at east and Nekaa at west. It is located at 53 degree and 48 minute to 53 degree and 26 minute east and 36 degree and 45 minute to 36 degree and 42 minute of the northern width. It includes three cities: Behshahr, Rostam Kala, and Galoogah and three central parts: Galoogah and Yansar. Behshahr, naturally, includes 2 mountainous parts at south and a desert at north. Behshahr's area is 51867 kilometers based on the latest censuses. The region where Behshahr is constructed above is on the northern hillside of Jahanmoora Mountains which are part of the eastern side and the rest of it constitutes alluvial flats to Mazandaran Sea . According to the latest censuses, Behshahr population is over 187184 people. 180109 people live in urban regions and 78532 people live in rural regions. Also Behshahr includes 6 villages: Miankaleh and Koohestan at the center, Kalbad and Panjhezare at Galoogah and Shohada and Ashrestagh villages at Yansar. Central Behshahr includes 16 villages; 5 of them are at Koohestan and the rest 11 villages are at Miankaleh. Galoogah includes 29 villages; 20 of them are at Panjhezare and the rest 9 villages are at Kalbad and Yansar includes 68 villages; 33 of them are at Shohada and the rest 35 villages are at Ashrestagh.
